Swiped this one from The New York Times (and it's not the first time either). I really like these infographics, being a data nerd and all, but it's also in the way they approach their data in that it's such a left-field approach. I don't necessarily think it's that easy either, you need to have someone who understands data mining and, well, information design. Jonny Drop Table and I have started looking at getting all of Modular's song data into a database - everything from standard record label attributes all the way to custom tagging and lyrics - once this is done I'm going to find a kid studying information design and invite them to start drilling through the data and producing imagery like this.
