Free Energy – Hope Child
I'm starting to come around to "Hope Child". I have to admit at first I was frighteningly put off by the opening set of power chords but I can now see where they were going with it. "Stuck on Nothing", Free Energy's debut release produced by none other than LCD Soundsystem/DFA "guy" James Murphy (unless you ask Tim Goldsworthy) is due for release March 9. Free Energy – Something In Common
"Something In Common" popped up just before we broke for the summer break, courtesy of the golden pointed ears that adorn the heads of the Canyons boys. (Here's thanking the Spring Court Christmas Party). There's been talk of the song, scripted by a bunch of lads that go by the handle of Free Energy, sounding like The Strokes back when they were young, dumb and full of naivety, four bros and a freak jamming in the garage. For me it drips of sun and summer, one pineapple-cocktail fun-filled heck of a jam.
