About

Kripy is me, Arturo Escartin, living in Sydney and currently looking after digital for the kids over at Modular. Modular Ideas that is. This is where I stash all the crazy things I read, see, watch and listen on the Internets. These posts do not represent the views of my employer or clients so don’t hold it against them.

I am all but married to Framling, the only thing missing is a piece of paper. Check her stuff because it’s rad. Like her. We live on an inner west farm, only a half truth, with a chocolate Labrador, Betty, and a rusty Abyssinian, Mackerel. He got his name from The Wind Up Bird Chronicle. You should read it. She got her name after a long and careful deliberation of two sides of a tissue box. It was also the name of Helmet’s second third album and a favourite non-technical aunty.

Kripy began as a “boredom project” – a weekly newsletter that pretty much consumed my life for two years and evolved into my online persona, the dog that I hide behind. After starting at Modular full time it was clear that the newsletter had to go as I just didn’t have the time to manage it in the way that it should and could have been. Deciding not to completely disappear from the web, I think it’s important for anyone who works in digital to maintain some sort of online web presence, I started running a picture blog for a while. But I wanted to get some words out there as well as share some of the stuff that I read, which is a lot.

So here it is. Now considering I work for a record label you’ll tend to find a lot of the content heavily skewed to music and much of that do to with the label. But in no way am I using this as a platform to “blow” the label. I spend most of my working week with Jonny Polariod and Angus Major Chords, both of whom manage music blogs and/or websites, and have interesting and wide-ranging tastes, and views, of music. I am interested in other things though, so you’ll find everything from me spouting lyrically about Sportgirl all the way to an advertising executive’s take on generating ideas to me ganging up on the lovable Truskett.

If you’re all up on the Internets and want to play it your way I tag most of the stuff that I read on Delicious. And a lot of that gets scraped onto Friendfeed. I sometimes Facebook, Last.fm is trapping everything I listen to and I’m on LinkedIn but rarely hang there. I have but a few photos up on Flickr. I need to do something about that. Twitter is ruling my day-to-day right now. The aforementioned picture blog is still running on Tumblr, which is a real easy and intuitive way to get amongst it. You should go get one. If you want the takeaway service you can suck on the RSS feed of the site which runs on Wordpress.

If you have something to share hit me on example@kripy.com. (Don’t panic, it’s a valid email address that doubles as a personal joke). If you have something physical to share just email me and I’ll send you my snail mail details.
